The Marin County EMS Agency is looking for volunteers to help staff a CPR event we are holding on Saturday, June 5, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., and I’m hoping your organization might be able to help us out.

CPR turns 50 years old this year and a national promotion has ensued to teach “hands-only” CPR to as many community members as possible. Hands-Only CPR, performed by a bystander, has been shown to be as effective as conventional CPR in events that occur at the home, work, or in public. Marin County EMS Agency, along with several other Bay Area EMS Agencies, is holding a special event on the date listed above at several locations: Vista Point/Golden Gate Bridge, Strawberry Village Shopping Center, The Village, Town Center, Northgate Mall, Vintage Oaks at Novato, and the Marinwood Farmer’s Market. In addition to teaching Hands-Only CPR for the adult patient only, we will also be doing AED training

Volunteers need NOT be certified CPR instructors as we will not be issuing certifications upon completion. Volunteers will be used to teach Hands-Only CPR (script provided), teach participants how to use an AED, and distribute informational flyers and promotional material. We would ask that any MMRC volunteer who participates in this event wear their MMRC red shirt/black pant uniform.

Please feel free to pass this on to your volunteers and have them contact me directly if they would like to help out. They may email me at Kgroves at co.marin.ca.us or call me at 415-473-3214. Please ask them to leave their name, contact phone number, and preferred site where they would like to volunteer.

I have also attached our flyer for your review.

Thank you ~
