  It seems that a tornado passed through Maine today.  Here is a posting 
I received from a friend who is a resident of Maine.
> An apparent tornato (sic) set down very near my grandchildren's home 
> in Gorham. It wiped out a cattle barn on the next road, and left a 
> path through the field behind the grandkid's home, with the wind 
> removing part of a new deck at the back of their house. Lots of tree 
> damage all over the area from micro-bursts. Having never sat through 
> tornado warnings before, it was a terrible night. After the warnings 
> were lifted, we got in the car and drove to Gorham but could not get 
> to the grandkids home because of closed roads. Their cable-telephone 
> service was knocked out and cell phones towers in the area were disabled.

Maybe preparing us with radios is not such a bad idea.
