In cooperation with the Marconi Conference Center, the Maritime Radio Historical Society will hold "Radio Days" on April 23/24 to help celebrate the birthday of Guglielmo Marconi. The public is invited to attend presentations on Saturday at the Marconi Conference Center in Marshall and contact the facility by Amateur Radio using CW on shortwave frequencies. A special QSL card will be issued for the event.
K6KPH will be open for Amateur contacts alternately on 3550kc an 7050kc. Plans are for operations in the late afternoon and evening when propagation will be best on the indicated frequencies. Depending upon schedules, K6BW may attempt to contact the center using CW from our clubhouse at Hamilton Field.
KPH will be contacting ships including the SS Jeremiah O'Brian KXCH and SS Red Oak Victory KYVM on 425kc (ship) and 426kc (KPH). Initial calls will be make on 500kc Friday and Saturday . Note these frequencies are located below the AM Broadcast band. You may be able to catch the "puff-puff" sound of transmissions if you can tune an AM radio to 500kc at the low edge of the AM dial. KPH will also be operating on 4247.0kc., above 80 meters. Those of you who have shortwave receivers, or receiving capabilities in Yaesu handhelds should be able to tune in these frequencies.
Saturday is filled with presentations of history and activities of KPH. The schedule can be found at:
