This is the first test we are conducting on simplex. Please read Bill's notes following my notes. So far we have 16 participants and growing. Note that we are using simplex (without repeaters) so some of us may not even connect. We want to see the connections that would be made and note them so we can document the soft spots. The test will begin at 10 a.m. If you would like to send messages, please do so. I have sent a guideline script, that is when you connect indeed. At 10:45, we intend to switch to K60W repeater so we can find out who connected with whom and a brief noted from each of us. You are asking me who is the net. In simplex, since we don't know who will connect with who, we cannot assign the net. That being said, let us see what happens, we may get 2 nets. So please take baby steps and be logical.
Here is an assignment as of tonight:
Patricia Hartigan - Tiburon
John Buffum - Tiburon
Vivian - Novato
Richard Dillman - Pt Reyes
Sunita - Walker Creek Ranch inMarshall
Vicki Fernandez - San Rafael
Michael - Walker Creek
Matt Lewis - Bolinas
Guy Marcucci - Sausalito
Steve Reynolds - Woodacre
David Rice - HWY 1 in MV
Tom Silver - MV
Gary Schariach - Tomales Hill
Bill Smith - ???????
Irwin Taranto - DOC in SR
Eileen Worthley - Poss Sausalito
Phyllis Galanis - Corte Madera
If I have left someone out, let me know.
So, remember to connect on K60W repeater at 10:45 for a quick debriefing.
We conclude promptly at 11:00 a.m.

The intent of the drill is to demonstrate we can establish a simplex communications from one extreme of the County to the other. We hope to position stations in Sausalito and Tiburon and near Tomales with intermediate stations in place so that they can relay messages from Sausalito to Walker Creek Ranch near Tomales:
(1) Sausalito/Tiburon as an end point
(2) Mill Valley (probably a mobile station on Highway 1)
(3) Mill Valley to San Rafael, with a links from Novato and from Corte Madera
(4) San Rafael to Bolinas
(5) Bolinas to either Point Reyes Station and/or directly to a hill overlooking Tomales and Walker Creek Ranch. Links to Inverness and the Point Reyes peninsula.
(6) Walker Creek Ranch as an end point.
The relay points depend upon who can volunteer and where they can locate to provide the linkages. Most will need mobile radios (20-50 watts), but stations in Tiburon/Sausalito will likely be successful with 5 watts. If you would like to support the Tiburon/Sausalito endpoints, you would be more than welcome
We are conducting the exercise between 10:00AM and 11:00AM on 145.64 (our "Channel 3"). We may also use 145.36, 443.800. 147.42 is a common simplex frequency used in West Marin. We will likely include stations in West Marin on that frequency.
