We will be meeting Thursday tonight again at Building 549, Hamilton Field at
7:00pm. So far this seems to be the most reliable meeting place, and in
lieu of any future announcements, we should plan to meet weekly on Thursday
evenings at Hamilton. If this is a difficulty, we can meet other evenings
and at other times (would earlier serve any?). Leave a note on the
reflector or call me at 415-456-4481 if you would like to discuss. Training
has been going extremely well, and we can begin to practice on-air, but
think it will be more comfortable for many of you if we continue to hold
classes in person. Also, we hope to be gaining additional communicators,
and should plan to bring them into our fold.
The Navy Mars net is held each night from 6:00pm. to 6:30pm We will be
checking into that net tonight from Hamilton and if you'd like to observe
that operation, please feel free to join us at 6:00pm.
We will also be practicing over our K6BW repeater, 147.775 - offset 110.9
PL.
Building 549 is located in the Coast Guard Housing section at Hamilton. A
map can be found at our clubhouse site http://www.k6bw.org. Here are
summary instructions:
Hamilton Field is located north of San Rafael in Novato. Take the Hamilton
Field/Nave Road Exit from Highway 101. If you are traveling from the south,
continue on Nave Road through one stoplight until you reach the Hamilton
Field Main Gate. Turn right into Hamilton onto Main Gate Road. If you are
traveling from the north, take the Hamilton Field exit and turn right and
take the overpass over Highway 101. Take the first right and continue down
the frontage road (Nave Road) through two stoplights until you reach the
Hamilton Field Main Gate. Turn left into Hamilton onto Main Gate Road.
Continue on Main Gate Road through one stoplight until you pass over a white
bridge. On the other side of the bridge, take the next right to Crescent
Dr. Drive a short block over another smaller bridge, then turn right again
to enter the Coast Guard Housing Area. Continue on Crescent until you spot
a large palm tree and a wye in the road. Turn left, and continue up a small
incline to San Jose Dr. Turn left again onto San Jose Dr. On the right you
will see a small driveway with a white sign marked Building 549. Take the
driveway up the hill to the clubhouse, which is located on the top of the
hill.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to call. The clubhouse
phone is 415-382-8135, and my phone is 415-456-4481.
