A number of new interested CERT team members have been added to the DART
Radio list. Welcome aboard! The list is only a few months old and has
grown to 48 members. Many have acquired their Amateur Radio license.
Congratulations to those who passed the test this last Saturday! We'll be
sending further information individually to those who passed the test.
We're holding an introduction class for those who would like to obtain a
license. It will be a lecture and question and answer session as an
introduction to Amateur Radio and the Technician Class license.
The class is part of the DART Radio License Class and everyone is welcome.
Even if you have your license and would like to find out more about radio,
feel free to attend. We're holding the class at the Hamilton Wireless
Clubhouse on Tuesday evening, August 28, 7:00pm - 10:00pm. Please call
415-456-4481 or drop a note by e-mail at hbco2 at sbcglobal.net if you would
like to take the class. There is no charge.
If you prefer a book on the subject, the American Radio Relay League (ARRL)
has published a license manual you should find useful. It is a
comprehensive introduction to Amateur Radio and will cover more than our use
of local communications, but has good descriptions of basic radio theory and
practice. It is available off the shelf at Barnes and Noble in the Corte
Madera Shopping Center or can be ordered from http://www.arrl.org. You
might also check with Amazon if you are comfortable with a discount.
