Hi all,

The test materials were sent Saturday to the ARRL who should begin
processing them in the next day or so. They are apparently very busy, but
with any luck, some of the licenses could be issued by the end of the week.

For Your Information:

An introductory Amateur Radio publication published by the ARRL (American
Radio Relay League) is called "Now You're Talking." The manual cost is
$20. You should be able to order the book through any bookstore. It will
provide good background information on Amateur Radio but is not necessary
for the DART program.

Several have asked for a technical class to cover the information introduced
in the test. This class would be apart from the communications class and
would cover radio theory and basic electronics. Of course it would be
tailored to applied information which you might find useful as a DART
volunteer, but is not a requirement for participation in the DART
communications program.

I'd be happy to conduct a class at our Hamilton clubhouse site at Hamilton
Field in Novato. It could be a one-session class of 3-4 hours, or perhaps
two classes would be better. Weekend evenings or weekend days would be
preferred.

We share the building with the Boy Scouts, think they meet every other
Monday night. We would likely schedule around those evenings. Tuesday
night is the Hamilton Wireless meeting night, we could hold class at one of
those meetings. All else is fair game.

Our clubhouse is located on the Coast Guard housing site in Novato.
Instructions to the building are on our website, http://www.k6bw.org
<http://www.k6bw.org/> .

If you are interested, leave a message with a note you are interested and
what day of the week (in the next two weeks or so) you'd prefer.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to post them on the
reflector, or call me if you prefer at 456-4481. We're all beginners and
the only dumb question is the one not asked. Posted questions are great
because we all get to participate and learn that way.

Again, congratulations! What a great team!
