This note was recently posted by Tim Totten N4GN, Brad's son. I'm
sorry to say that it appears Brad is in his last days. How many days
he have left is unknown. Brad was one of the original members of the
Mid-America Microwave Society and was very active on the microwaves a
number of years ago. He was the first person I ever worked on 10 GHz.

>From Tim Totten N4GN regarding Brad Totten K4EFD:
Update on Dad:
As many of you know, Dad's been battling a pretty rare
disease--progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP). It looks now like we're
entering the final phase of this fight.
As I type, Dad is in the hospital. But we expect to be moving back to
his room at Glen Ridge tomorrow (Saturday). In accordance with his
wishes--which we thankfully discussed at length in better days--we
transitioned today to hospice care. So the focus now is on comfort,
and we have discontinued any efforts at prolonging life.
We are very thankful that there is not much pain directly associated
with the PSP, so Dad is already resting comfortably. But he has
experienced a pretty significant and rapid decline in the last couple
of days.
On Christmas, Dad had a very good day with family, and he enjoyed a
big dinner and quite a few other Christmas goodies. Now, just a few
days later, he is no longer able to take any food, and only very small
sips of water with considerable difficulty. Verbal communication has
been limited to just a few words, but he has flashed that sweet smile
on several occasions.
At this point, we expect that we are looking at a matter of a few days
to perhaps a little over two weeks. Our entire family certainly
appreciates your prayers and kind words of encouragement during these
difficult days.
