Comparing my Garmin EtrexH to WWV listening with an FT-857D, the GPS
seconds change about a quarter second after the WWV click. There is some
delay in the GPS processor and there can be delay in narrow receiver
filters and significant delay in a DSP receiver. Some DSP receivers have
had enough delay they were hard to tune manually. That delay affected
the receiver audio even on AM. So for timing sake its better to use a
pure analog WWV receiver with as little filtering as practical. Turning
off the audio dsp in the 857 and new batteries in the GPS they agree as
perfectly as I can compare click to digit change.
