By the way, there has been some discussion on the VHF and VHF contesting
lists about the decline in activity in VHF contests over the last few years
and what we can do about it. It was mentioned that there are forums on
eham.net and qrz.com where new people ask questions about VHF operation.
There are evidently few VHF weak-signal guys answering questions there, so
the new hams get told it is all line-of-sight and that FM is the only mode
anyone uses on VHF.
I think we should make an attempt to counter this. I have been keeping an
eye on these groups to give new people the true info about VHF+ weak-signal
work when the opportunities arise. I'm for more activity!
Also, hope to do some more portable work and make a few skeds for microwave
QSO's when it warms up. I hope Spring is close.
