[MAMS] 10 GHz contest September weekend

I had fun in the 10 GHz contest this weekend. I drove up to Wisconsin and
worked people in Michigan. I roved with Pete K9PW. We started out near
Highland Park, Illinois on Saturday morning and went north. We stopped at 9
locations and ended south of Sheboygan. Then we drove to a hotel in Two
Rivers, WI. Got up Sunday morning to drive north to Algoma and then work
our way back south to Sheboygan, which is where I ended at 5:50 on Sunday.
Made 8 stops on Sunday.

Participation did seem a little lower. Lloyd NE8I is in the hospital and
Jim W9SNR couldn't make it. I don't think Mike AA9IL could, either. We were
joined on Sunday afternoon by Ken W9GA who was using Jerry WA9O's station.
It seemed a few people who have been on in the past were missing from the
Michigan side, too.

Bob K2YAZ had a lot of transverter problems and I heard he went through
three 10 GHz transverters this weekend.

I made a few QSO's on 24 GHz with K3SIW who was on the other side of the
lake. 24 GHz was very difficult in most cases, even when 10 GHz signals
were booming in. In one location Garry was strong across the lake. The rest
were just slightly better than ESP level. :-)

Not sure of the final tally but I think I made a total around 60 QSO's over
the weekend.
