[MAMS] W9SNR/R Sept. Contest

I agree with other contest reports that general conditions were rather blah, but
the bigger problem I saw was lack of activity, particularly in and around
the Chicago area. Many of the familiar big guns and multi-ops were just not
present. Some may regret this decision after seeing what I say next.

Right at the start of the contest, there was a mini opening to the west and
northwest. I worked several stations in IA an MN that were outside my
normal range. Early Sunday morning, there was a much better opening to the
south and southeast. My best DX was to W4NH in EM85, and I was able to
reach many closer stations off the back and side of their antennas. It
sometimes took some work to get them to turn their antennas. They must have
thought that I was in EM62 instead of EN62. It will be interesting to see
what they report for this contest. I also wonder if K9JK/R found any
enhanced conditions during his trip SSE of us.

Even with all that DX, my score was considerably worse than in past Sept.
rover outings. Some of it was my fault for not putting up 6M, but mostly
it was just pitifully low activity. Anyway, here's my preliminary dump from
VHF-DX
