Fellow Microwave enthuiasts,
I want to provide a status update on the EN72et beacon project. First of all, I'd like to thank the people who have donated to the new 10GHz equipment:
K8TB
K8EB
KB8U
AA9IL
WA8VPD
K8JA
NE8I
W8ISS
W9ZIH
I now have the beacon transmitter and power amp on order from Kuhne, and I'm in the process of mounting the 10GHz slot antenna inside a weatherproof radome (PVC pipe). The enclosure is complete, and the new keyer is programmed.
I'd like to ask all of you that have not donated to consider a donation, of any size to help defray the cost. Thanks for your consideration!
The plan at this point is to have it running on the site around the end of October. Kuhne said they would ship in two weeks, so that should be realistic.

Great Lakes microwave enthusiasts: as you know the 10G beacon that operated for years in Grand Haven is down. Many of us have enjoyed the benefits of that beacon for years, and miss it greatly.
Fellow hams in Western Michigan and myself are soliciting funds to put up a new Kuhne beacon transmitter up on the 92nd street hill at 1100' asl (EN72et) with an omni slot antenna, which has already been donated by K8TB. Tom has also provided us with the excellent hilltop location, and made a generous $ donation as well - the Kuhne stuff is not cheap!
We have already received donations from several people, but more $ is needed. We'd like to get enough to buy the beacon transmitter (200mW) and a small amplifier. Please contact me to support this cause.
This beacon will be co- located with beacons donated by K8EB on 1.2, 2.4, and 5.7 GHz. Plan is to have this done before snow falls this year.
Thanks for your support!
