[MAMS] 5.7 GHz antennas

Thanks Mike. The current antenna is a 20 inch offset feed dish. I have been
watching for a deal locally on a 2 to 3 foot dish, but so far nothing has
turned up. There is a 30 inch offset feed dish right across the street from
me, no one has lived there for over 5 years and I am hoping to catch someone
around someday and see if I can snag it.
I didn't know if there might be any other options for a different antenna.

Danny

Hi
My first microwave band was 5.7 due to the amount of surplus gear
available.  My antenna was a 2ft dish with a N to WR137 flange bolted at the
feed.

I understand a plain WG flange is not optimized - I believe I would have to
make up a small horn flare to optimize for the dish but with that feed, I
have worked across lake Michigan from 40 miles inland to a station in the
central part of MI.  I will move to a W2IMU feed next.

Hi Danny,

Not sure about preferred, but a dish 24 inches in diameter or bigger with a
decent feed should do well. I used an 18 inch dish with a WA3RMX tri-band
feed for some years and then went to a 24 inch dish. The WA3RMX feed works
well but isn't optimized for 5760. If you're going single band, a W2IMU or
Clavin feed should work very well.
