[MAMS] progress report -- K4TO uwave repairs

I promised a progress report and here it is. I have the pot replaced,
but the old pot is good. The problem is in the bypass caps and what I
think are MOVs across the terminals everywhere. I clipped them all out
and now resistance readings are normal.

Two wonderful guys who read my report on the damage have volunteered to
come down and do the work at 185 feet. I can't say enough about their
kindness I will tell you who they are if they give me permission to.

With good weather and if we don't find too much additional damage when
we get the box down, I should be back on the air for the June contest.
Blessings on them for their help.

A call to the ProSysTel guys at Array Solutions tomorrow should reveal
the value of the MOVs. But even If they can't tell me, it is a 5 v
circuit and I can guess pretty close. I used to design lightning
suppression for telephones, so I understand a little about these things.

I'll have to replace the heavy bolts that hold the rotator in place. The
old ones almost didn't come off and this is a good opportunity to put
new stuff up.

All in all I feel good about the progress so far.

73,

Dave, K4TO
