The Pieces that I have a friend has so I can't provide photo. If your familiar with White Dish
A wave guide is fed with a splash at top for spreading signal on dish, That piece of guide has a mechanical method that from what I was told is to introduce attenuation. My thoughts are to get rid of it. I've been a little suspect that I should be hearing better and ask a friend to take it and see if he removes the attenuator if there is any gain.

Hi Mark,

Do you have any photos? I would guess that your described mod will work. It
would help to see what you're working with, though.
