There is a new beacon on 1296.080 MHz located 800-feet up on one of the TV
towers.  The current beacon arrangement is temporary until a permanent
package can be built.  The antenna is a single halo built on a PC board.
That antenna is mounted at the 800 foot level on the tower.  The antenna is
feed with 7/8 hardline  The total feedline length is around 900-feet so the
loss on 1296 is very high.  25 watts at the bottom gives us less than 2
watts at the antenna.  So far the best reception report is from Michigan at
205 miles.

This beacon is sponsored by the Midwest VHF/UHF Society and runs under their
call: W8KSE
