I have been fighting some sort of illness for over a week. It is
mostly respiratory, in my throat and lungs. But if I push myself too
hard I get really wiped out. Last Sunday I had a fever and stayed in
bed most of the day.
This morning I got up at 4:30 am on 4 hours of sleep to drive to a
hill in EM49ua to work a few of the St. Louis crew. I took a short nap
this evening and woke up feeling about like I did last weekend. I
don't want to push it too much.
I was planning on driving to the Chicago area on Sunday but right now
I think it would be better if I stayed closer to home. I am going to
go to the hill in EN50rl in the morning on Sunday instead. I can
handle that. I will probably be set up around 7:30 - 8 am.
Maybe I can work a few of you then. I know I can at least work W9ZIH
if he's around.
This morning I heard and was able to work Jim W9SNR on 144 MHz from
EM49ua. We weren't able to work on 10 GHz. I heard Bob K2YAZ on 144
MHz about as loud at my end as Jim was. I don't think he heard me.
EN50rl is quite a bit closer, so with any enhancement it might work. A
couple years ago I had my farthest QSO on 10 GHz with W0ZQ from EN50rl
at 227 miles.
73, Zack W9SZ
