Hi All,
I haven't said hello to all the new members in a while. So hello and
Happy New Year!
We have quite a lot of active and very knowledgeable microwavers on
the list now. Hopefully I will get to work some of you soon. I'll be
active in the January VHF Sweepstakes from a hill in EN50rl unless the
weather is really bad. I'll have all bands 144 thru 10368 MHz.
Other than that, some of my winter projects include finishing up new
transverters for 902/3 and 1296 using the new W1GHZ designs, and also
24 and hopefully 47 GHz.
I have two different transverters I'm working on for 24. One uses the
little mixer and amp modules designed by Luis CT1DMK. The other is an
SDH transceiver. I'm using the KD6OZH PLL LO circuit followed by the
multiplier chain using pipe cap filters that W1GHZ just came up with,
to give me 12 GHz output for the 24 GHz mixers. Still working on the
boards for those but hope to have them done soon.
On 47 GHz I have copied the DB6NT circuit boards for the harmonic
mixers. I'm building these from scratch. I plan on using two separate
mixers, one for transmit and one for receive. The LO will be
different; Garry K3SIW sent me his design for a direct synthesis LO
which relies only on the frequency of the 10 MHz reference for its
accuracy and stability. No phase-locking. Garry uses this in his 47
GHz setup and it looks promising.
I hope the coming year is good for microwave activity for you all!
73, Zack W9SZ
