[Lowfer] Lowfer TAG on the air

I read your Bio on QRZ. I was hoping it might have some info on TAG.
I played with VLF in the 70s, out of Westfield NJ. My neighbor and friend
was Ken Cornell, W2IMB
His call at the time was K, mine was P. We operated on 189.5 Khz with a
fixed transmit / receive schedule.
My longest 2 way QSO was to the end of Long Island using slow speed CW with
another experimenter.
My receiver was an reworked ARC-5 employing triple conversion as an IF
add-on and a razor sharp audio filter.
My transmitter used a printed circuit with the letter "P" etched into it and
turned by a phonograph turntable.
The output power was "sort of" 1 Watt from a 2E26. I think my power
measuring equipment had some problems.
I sat with Ken many nights while he worked on his basket loop coils, coil
winding machine and scrapbook. We shared circuit ideas, some of which
ended up in the scrapbook.
When his XYL got an inheritance she left Ken and he moved from Westfield to
Point Pleasant and I no longer had an experimenter to share ideas with.
Fond memories. I'll see if I can cobble together some "up to date"
technology and hear TAG.
Cheers
Pete, WA2EIN , formerly K2RBV
