Hello The Net:
There certainly has been a fair amount of VLF-LF-MF ham radio items available over the years. Most are a labor of love and are well appreciated, but they do fade away, usually due to market forces.
Keeping informed of new stuff can be time consuming and I find it hard to keep myself updated of new items.
I recently came across this at: https://www.herostechnology.co.uk/pages/VLF-LF-MF_Converter.html
This receive only up converter (5KHz-530 KHz) from the UK is available in 4 versions:a 4.0 to 4.5 2 MHz IF, with internal xtal based LOanother with the same IF but uses an external LO of 4.0 MHz you supply, allowing a LeoBodnar GPS/DO based ref,a 3.5 to 4.02 MHz IF with an internal xtal based LO and the newest unit with a internal TCXO for the LO.
My tentative/initial plan is to get a unit with the external LO, use a Agilent 33120A synthesizer, and a SDR for RX.The SDR is already optimized for best noise figure (sensitivity) and best dynamic range in the ham bands, like the Hermes Lite 2 with external reference, and Thetis software for a PC.
For the LeoBodnar GPS/DO based synthesizer:https://www.leobodnar.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=107&products_id=393&zenid=6ec4bcc64c77d19f3f97097bd62723b7
ARR, Advanced Receiver Research, has a few preamps appropriate for this frequency rangehttps://www.advancedreceiver.com/page46.html
All I need now are separate low loss band pass filters for 137 and 474 KHz.And determine if the Hermes Lite 2 can TX on 137/474 KHz with a transverter output for further filtering and amplification.

If only I was in a position to find out...
Couldn't afford the transceivers when they were available, and now that
I can, the world has moved on.
