Voice...  THAT would be nice....  I heard there were voice nets in the 
mid-90's, my girlfriend and I were trying to get a couple of 
transceivers set up at the time, but they seem to have stopped around 
the time we heard about them.

I think it was Curry Communications that had voice transceivers back then.

My Icom IC-706 MKII goes down to 170kHz if I recall correctly, all-mode, 
but I've never actually tested it there.
