I have used a 1 meter diameter loop with the LZ1AQ preamp. The loop was
just a length of 12 gauge copper wire. I did not use shielded material. It
worked quite well. I have compared it to my AMRAD e-probe and signals were
only slightly weaker on the loop. Both always received a booming signal
from WWVB on 60 kHz. The advantage of the loop is that it's rotatable and
can be used to tell which direction a signal comes from.
I moved into an apartment a year ago and haven't had any room for antennas.
I may try the 1 meter diameter loop indoors and see how it works.
