Hi John,
I looked for TAG a few weeks ago using several relatively nearby
kiwisdrs. Guess the lightning racket was bad at the time because I
didn't copy TAG on any of them. Tonight I started with wa2zkd and also
saw nothing. But k1vl copied TAG, albeit weakly using QRSS30 (QRSS60 was
a bit better) from 120 miles. That's so close the ground wave should
have been potent, but wasn't.
Unfortunately most kiwisdr receivers are poor at LF. There used to be 2
good ones, both using Clifton Labs eprobes: N8GA in Ohio (was off the
air awhile but when it returned it was "deaf") and Newport, OR (off the
air). At the moment KPH in CA is also off the air, as is VE3HOA. The
best receivers currently active are VY2HF in PEI, Pembleton Farms in MI,
and VA6OK and VE6WZ in AB.
