I can only provide you with some history of the HiFer I started with 23
years ago. I started with a signal generator to a 1/4 wave vertical.
Later using a two way radio channel element for the signal source. Details
on the page below:

For a while I had a solar panel charging the battery. When the battery
expired I replaced it with a 12 volt wall wart. Everything else is still
the same 21 years later. I just checked and found the beacon still
squaring away very close to the published 13.555 MHz frequency. It has
been several years since I've received a reception report. Maybe I should
see how much power the wall wart is consuming. My guess is the beacon is
costing me several dollars per year providing no ROI.
