Gedas, try listening with a narrow CW filter and your rx in CW mode
tuned 1kHz higher or lower than 40kHz. If I recall, it identifies only
twice per hour at an odd time.

>Hi John. That is neat that you are able to hear JJY so well. I suspect I could too but I have a carrier directly on top of it and the stupid thing has a ~1.5 PPS modulation to it. At first I thought it was JJY but after listening for it's CW ID and not hearing a sign of it I am convinced the QRM is over powering it. I have been trying to track it down and once I do I suspect I will do a happy dance.

>>Gedas, JJY 40 kHz is pretty much a regular here in southeast Kansas on nothing more than a 40 foot vertical with a -6 dB buffer amplifier at the base, whenever the static is low enough. It is usually at its best after midnight, but sometimes has been noted not long after sunset in the dead of winter.

I have used it to listen directly to the Russian ALPHA navigation signals through headphones, and hope to try using it someday to record the on-channel RF signals from SAQ, too.
