yes, that sounds like a fun project! I have never heard of a 
self-rectification oscillator before. I'd guess that one of the tubes is 
"upside down". Heater-cathode isolation could be an issue I think, if 
both heaters are fed from the same supply, but maybe the 6DQ6 can 
withstand 163Vpk at that point?

Very interesting... I would love to see the schematic.

Do you power it from a dynamotor?
