Mike and John,
I noticed John's frequency scale was off about 1 Hz too. WM is right
where it's always been and perhaps John would have seen something from
SIW too if ARGO was 1 Hz lower. Then again perhaps not because I looked
for KE and JH last night a bit and saw nothing even though earlier SJ
and even TAG were seen. Haven't seen anything from WH2SSP for some days
now so wonder if it's currently on the air.
Zack, you're much closer to Mike's WM beacon at the watering hole than I
am so I'd expect that to come through using ARGO at QRSS30 rate. It's
normally strong via ground wave here from 367 km.
I've managed to decode 100 countries on FT8 from 160 through 10 mtrs
with a Clifton Labs eprobe at 10' in the back yard. The homebrew eprobes
I used previously probably wouldn't have done nearly as well but I think
160 mtrs would have worked fine, and perhaps 80 mtrs too. I started out
years ago with a 3' shielded loop, then upgraded to a 10' shielded loop
a la VE7SL. While the latter outperformed my homebrew eprobe it degraded
over time and when I took it down it was definitely lower in sensitivity
than the Clifton Labs eprobe.
