Zack,
I use a Low Noise Vertical design, use Google to find the details. I
have a good ground plane for it, and the vertical element is about 40Ft
tall. I adjusted the transformer turns to peak at about 220 Khz, No
preamp is used.
With that transformer, signal strengths start to drop around 6 Mhz, with
very little signal above 10 Mhz.
Verticals are a controversial antenna, but this one has worked good for me.
