Stan, I listened on 194 kHz yesterday and through the night and copied 
nothing other than a few continuous carriers, no modulation. The 
reference you cited is dated Oct 28, 2019 and refers to a beacon in 
Columbia (presumably SC). You refer to a "local" station - is that in 
MA? I have no problem copying lowfer EAR at 576 km via ground wave. But 
that's using ARGO at QRSS30 rate and only needs an SNR of around -35 dB 
(2500 Hz BW reference). The much wider bandwidth Thor Micro signal needs 
SNR ~ -18 dB, quite a difference.

I copied Thor transmissions years ago from experimental WE2XGR stations 
around 500 kHz. That old version of fldigi was simple to use. The latest 
version is quite complicated due to all the features provided and took 
several hours to get running . Disappointingly the instruction videos 
available through the Internet and tried were not very helpful.
