evidently you are attenuating the signals Andy. If you put the original
audio out onto a screen to look at it, you probably would see peaks above
the noise that are the signals but when you just listen you cannot hear
them because the audio for the total noise spectrum is so loud. You got
rid of the noise, sending it to ground and now the noise does not detract
from hearing the signals. It is probably a fine balance of the
adjustable coil to ground to keep the signals off of ground, to minimize
attenuation of the signals themselves. Good job.
