Hi David:

As Warren mentioned; the loop preamp is not repairable. Wellbrook does offer a new retro-fit kit to replace a
blown preamp, and it is mounted apart from the loop - Not - part of it , as in the original design.
Unfortunately, it is a bit pricey for my budget... hi - hi. The idea of a homebrew preamp to replace the blown one
will work I'm sure, BUT, knowing me !! I will never find the " round tuit " to do it... hi - hi.
