I was driving tonight, on Hwy 50, Central Nevada, roughly between
Dayton, and Silver Springs from roughly 2030h - 2130h PST. On 1020 kHz,
for the duration, I heard a Spanish speaking broadcast station, and,
what sounds like some sort of fast, repetitive digital signal.
Repetition rate is about 8 Hz. The best description I can come up with,
is the sound of large badly worn mud tires on a truck someone is clearly
using to compensate for something. Having a stock Toyota radio that
tunes in 10 kHz increments, and without filters, I am unable to tune
around, clean up the signal, and get a more accurate frequency. The
signal strength remained fairly steady for several tens of miles, more
so than the radio station, although it faded away at one point, and came
back, this could have been due to my moving.

Anyone else hearing something likes this around 1020 kHz? It may not
even be near me, someone may have it rock solid, and crystal clear a
couple thousand miles away.

Ideas?

Thanks.

Kurt
