Garry: OK and thanks for all the info. It was good to see SIW its usual good trace level for +400 mile daytime path. I also recently found the NW EWE transformer had the antenna and ground leads reversed
on the Hi-Z side of the transformer, so I fixed that the other afternoon and the antenna seems a bit quieter---but still too early to tell.
I have new transformers made for the NW/SE EWE but I need to get them on PC boards for installation in the NEMA boxes at the antenna. The NE/SW antenna has the transformers replaced. I was concerned that after several years of close lightning hits the permeability of the
core material could have degraded. With these time-domain digital modes, I'm thinking that small degradations in components over time should be more apparent in received signal levels versus real-time communication modes.
Eric, NO3M seems to replace his circle 8 system every year just trying to keep it up and running. I try to stay within an orfer of magnitude of rx performance with the EWEs versus his circle 8, hence the thought of replacing the
antenna transformers to have fresh core material. This time I also cherry-picked all the BN73-202 cores to match up at about the same uH value for a 1-turn pass instead of random values out of the bag. Time will tell if having the transformers closely matched
will help balance out the rx system.

Mike, thanks for the nice capture. I know 474.2 kHz wspr has been great
recently so it's nice to know lowfer propagation is perking up too. I've
had trouble with EbNaut transmissions at 185.185... kHz M,W, and F. The
USB-RS232 adapter has stopped for some reason so only a carrier went out
last night. Bob, NK9M is working on the problem and hopefully it will be
working right soon.
