Interesting comparisons. I don't know about Ward's power estimate but I'm pretty sure mine is very optimistic. Given that, I can't explain the observed S/N difference.

  There is only about 1/2 dB in 20Log(D) between the two stations for the distance portion of the free space path loss equation. And my NW EWE may favor the W7IUV direction by 1/2 to 1 dB at most. given the broad front lobe of the cardio pattern.  That being the case, with this limited data set, there is a chance of W7IUV EIRP being 8~10 db down from XXP's EIRP...

 Given that XXP reached audible -13 SNR overnight, I would say that propagation conditions were reasonably good as that is not a nightly occurrence for me.  No T/As from the East Coast stations were noted however, which is also a sign of propagation enhancement.  The next challenge is for me to receive both W7IUV and 2E0ILY in one overnight session...
