Larry & All:  Apparently your wire on tower has some ground return as it 
does seem to radiate,,,, NW EWE antenna was used for reception to 300kHz LPF 
and 2N3904 preamp and ZFY-1 mixer with reversed IF/RF ports. I presume the 
G/T of the EWE antenna is such that the 2N3904 is reasonably adequate for 
the task on 2200m

The spots came in after the Midwest t-storms settled down overnight...

 Rather surprising result given the last dead-of-winter W7IUV decodes here 
were just a few spots mid evening back in Nov or Dec, cant really recall 
exact dates...

I will give another go at it tonight if you are up for it before your 
weather change occurs...
