Hello Chris, All,

Thank you! I wish the honors could have gone to you after all the
many receptions the other way around and our email conversations.

Being heard across the pond was a huge thrill! Throughout more than
a year of work and sacrifice to get the station built,
trans-Atlantic aspiration was a constant driving force. It is
difficult to know for sure when 2E0ILY isn't transmitting, but as
far as I could determine, conditions were no better than fair.

I wish there was more activity. I keep reading about the many big
stations who were active and the QSO activity 10 to 20 years ago.
Unfortunately now that we finally have access to the band in the
U.S. virtually all of that is gone. How very disappointing.

I worked on the little amplifier for several hours today. I believe
I now have it optimized as much as I can. It's producing 105 watts
or a bit more at 24 volts, close to 150 watts at 28 volts. The
limiting factor on how hard I can run it will be heating in one of
the inductors. It doesn't seem to be the core itself that is heating
but the wire. I presume peak current is rather high there.

I am running now at 100 watts. I will increase to 150 watts later
and probably turn on a small fan to help that inductor. I may ease
it up a bit more than that and see how it does.

Tomorrow I will start building the real amplifier!

73,
Paul N1BUG
