Hi Everyone.
nice turn out on the LowFER NET this morning on 3927 Khz at 0800 California
time.
The Japanese broadcast station shut down right at 0800 so we were in the
clear with some QSB.
Fun NET this morning with:
Dave Curry WD4PLI (Beacon WH2XVN 183.5 kHZ) from Burbank, CA,
Ed Larsen KI6R (Beacon 6R 186.7kHZ) from Eldorado Hills, CA,
Clint Turner KA7OEI from Utah
W6IZJ Frank Philips in San Gabriel listening
WA6OWR in Creston, CA.
Discussion on what everyone is doing.
Ed and Dave discussed loops they are or will be working on.
I am working on installing a BOG in the ravine next to the shack pointed at
Dave Curry's QTH and moving the active whip up on the mesa behind the house
to reduce the noise. Receivers are Yaesu FT 747 and new Icom 7300
Ed Larsen mentioned he had the NX beacon on in Morro Bay in the '80es and his
Beacon '6R' is currently on 185.700 Khz 24/7 excluding power failures
Clint had the CT beacon in the 80'es too.
Dave talked about several folks back then meeting on SSB in the lowfer band
on Saturdays and he is hopeful we can do this on 630 meters in the future.
It will be interesting to see the transverter and tranceiver market with
the new bands also. Dave has his Part 5 beacon on 183.5 Khz and looks for
QSOs on Saturdays.
I believe my Icom 7300 will transmit on the new bands now with the mars mod.
Exciting times with the new low bands, 2200m and 630Khz coming up.
Looking forward to next Saturdays net at 0800 PDT ON 3927kHZ
Please join us if you can,
