The newer MODEL radio is the PL-880. Not part of the discussion in this
thread about the PL-660. Have heard from others with both radios that
the ssb is 'different' on the eight eighty.

PL-660 is a Different Model and is still being sold. This version radio
has had a number of revisions that do not show up in the model number.
Would be nice if there was a serial number break down of when and what
circuit changes were done. Came to my attention about the differences
due to my having purchased two a couple years apart or so.

Wish they would add a serial port to this great hand held small radio to
help manage the two thousand memories.

Somewhere on line there is an article of an outfit that has tested this
radio and a few others, and lists the comparisons of them.

This make / model radio for a "hand held that uses four standard AA
batteries" and has stable ssb with ham bands, doesnt really have a
comparable model out in this class - comparable must at least meet the
660 features for size, standard batteries, and analog tuning. Other
models in this size range dont usually use standard batteries or have
analog tuning, or are much larger.

What I would especially like to see in a future version is a a serial
port to manage the memories. 73 .... Bill ........ out
