I did an actual measurement. Those who know me,
know I'm awful at estimating distances. If I tell you
something is "half a mile," it's somewhere between
100 feet and 2 miles. ;-)
So I measured with Google Maps.
Location is about 60m NE of Dallas.
Cable runs directly East-West and will be fed
from the western end.
The actual length of the cable is 3.12 miles (5 km).
Average burial depth is 2 feet. I can run the far
end grounded or open. It is 12 conductor shielded
with all the conductors tied together and to the shield.
I could run the shield open; very much open to suggestions.
