[Lowfer] Lowfer Digest, Vol 148, Issue 1

Since the dreamer band (8,0000 cycles) antennas are so difficult to
build, I started looking for geologically favorable site to transmit
on. Consider the idea of transmitting from a narrow barrier island. If
the antenna leads were grounded in seawater on each side of the
island, the antenna current would be forced in large part to stay in
the seawater and to flow around the island. This is because the sand
island would have a freshwater sandy core. which would be much higher
resistance than the sea water. So by transmitting on a island we force
the antenna current to circumnavigate the island. I also speculate
that the water between the island and the mainland might act similar
to the conductor on a j pole antenna since the island would act
somewhat like a matching stub. If this arrangement works then there
are sites that would yield large effective radiated power levels due
to the antenna current moving through the seawater around an island..
