Wow. Until three days ago I had not managed to detect any signal
from across the Atlantic. Now it has been three consecutive nights
of Atlantic crossings with G8HUH last night being my second station.
Who will be next?

Who can say what part of this is extraordinary conditions and what
part is a change I made to the station three days ago? I cannot, but
I do think the change has helped. I am seeing several dB better S/N
on WH2XND with new record highs being reached three nights in a row.

It is fascinating to watch the signal of German utility station
DCF39 on 139 kHz. It, along with sister stations DCF49 (129.1 kHz)
and HGA22 (135.6 kHz) start to appear a few hours before my sunset
and remain until after sunrise at the transmitter sites. DCF39 (and
less commonly the others) also appears for a couple of hours during
full path daylight, peaking when high noon is at path center. That
peak is just about now (1345z).
