Long ago and far away at base camp in Nevada, I taped a small florescent light bulb to the vertical part of my 189.8 KC antenna and used that to tweak the loading coil at the antenna base.  Worked well- watched it blink "NTS" after tune-up.  I forgot to remove it before leaving the shack and I heard about it from Security the next day, LOL.

I wonder how close attaching an NE-2 to the hot end of the coil and tuning for maximum brightness would get you?
