Once the morning frost evaporated away lowfer EAR began coming in fine
via daylight groundwave. Thanks J.B. for keeping something on to listen to.
Have removed the lowfer SIW slash coder and replaced it with an
Ultimate3S/GPS unit that generates WSPR-15 at the same 185.185 kHz
frequency. When fall arrives I plan to alternate between WSPR-15 and
QRSS30/60 at 185.2993 kHz, switching daily at local noon.
The synthesizer clock is an external TCXO with a bang-bang temperature
controller set to 40C and 1C hysteresis. That's stable to within 1 Hz at
27 MHz on the bench. Plenty of GPS signal on the bench even in the
basement but may have a problem when water pools on top of the beacon
box. Time will tell how well it performs in the field.
