Yes, a yagi at 22 m could be effective but is not small, and poses certain 
mechanical challeges in construction and operation.

Former HiFER op Ed Gelinas had considerable success with an amplified 1 
meter loop (circumference, I think it was, not diameter) that he described 
in The LOWDOWN several years ago.  Another alternative for directivity that 
doesn't require a lot of "sky real estate" would be two to four active whips 
with a phasing network.

And with ample surface area available to you, you might consider one or more 
2 to 3 wavelength Beverage antennas, such as Bob Sutton used in New Zealand 
last fall to snag so many US HiFERs. You can read the accounts of that DX

Board,http://lwca.org/mb/ , if interested.  I'm trying to build two or three 
such antennas now, one aimed at Florida and one at the Northeast, plus one 
for out West if I can find the room for it...assuming the rain ever stops, 
anyway.
