[Lowfer] Watering Hole

Mike: Well it's cold here at 15F presently. I would have left the receiver
on overnight with the IF split for 185 and 630 meters but wanted to dedicate
all the IF signal power to 630m to see if I could decode XCR overnight. I
did manage two XCR decodes overnight before a collection of 50 percent tx
cycle "local" QRO stations created dynamic range issues with the wspr
software performance limits. I may spend more time on 185.3 as it seems
stations operating in that frequency range have a more refined concept of
what weak signals are....

I did notice the ARGO waterfall first captures your WM upper and lower
carrier levels at the "corners" where the graphic portion of the
transmission transitions and then eventually the graphic portion becomes
visible as the propagation enhances. The extra dB or so power per unit mHz
on those "corner" traces is like a stepped power function for beaconing.
Perhaps not intentional but useful for weak signal monitoring nonetheless.

Thank you for all your weak signal efforts Mike.

73, Mike wa3tts
