Looked for WE2XPQ and VE7BDQ on 136 kHz WSPR overnight to no avail. But
found signals from the South enhanced quite a bit. The 3 reference
signals I use (NDB GPI on 309 kHz from Columbia; and the two DGPS
sources in Panama on 302 and 307 kHz) all were coming in well around
0400Z so I tuned for other DX. Found NDBs PTE on 420 kHz and EPO on 225
kHz from Columbia and PAL on 365 kHz from Ecuador copyable and then was
surprised to find TOY on 260 kHz 8222 km away in Chile pounding in.
Later copied MJL on 240 kHz at 7474 km, also from Chile. Tried for 2
other NDBs in Chile that are presumably active but no copy. Around local
sunrise found lowfer SJ coming in well and bits of WM (it does fine
during the day via groundwave) but nothing seen from TAG. Nice end for
the year 2016.
