Thanks Garry,
Craig's reply to you had mentioned further reading including eLoran as a
timing-source test so I looked around (thanks Craig, interesting reading)
and found (among many other things) the CRADA announcement (April 2015)
which mentioned useful signals to 1000 miles from Wildwood. That didn't seem
to match with what I thought I remembered from your reports (I didn't
remember daytime reports on Wildwood from your QTH); so I hoped that you
could help solve the puzzle and you did, thanks.
Based on your reply, I'm guessing that one might need an FFT bandwidth of
100Hz or less to barely see Wildwood in the daytime at 1000 miles (I'm
hoping to capture at my north-of-Phoenix low-noise location); an SNR of that
sort would be consistent with the CRADA announcement and your reports, given
that eLoran probably integrates samples for a full second for each
measurement. Thanks for the help!
Next I need to fill the gap 90kHz-150kHz in my RX coverage; and wouldn't
mind upgrading 30kHz to 500kHz with something much better. For LF 30kHz and
up, would you recommend Cloud-IQ? My ELF-VLF RX equipment is low-noise,
portable and stable (Thunderbolt E GPSDO) using SpecLab and Matlab; and
would prefer low-noise/portable/stable for LF also; would you have any
suggestions?
73,
Jim AA5BW

Jim, I have copied the test signal into daylight on occasion, but that isn't
normal. Usually it disappears into my noise floor.
