First of all...oops! Yesterday's message should have been "Wednesday
afternoon MP," not Tuesday. Keeping up with the FCC IT shenanigans got me a
day out of sync with the calendar.
I won't have a lot of time on the farm today, either, but I did get a couple
hours' earlier start, with MP coming in just fine shortly after 11 AM CDT.
That's at least an hour before solar noon in London, ON, it's just past
solar noon here, and I'll continue for a while on the other side of that as
well. MP was good and solid this morning, both on 60 secondand 30 second
Slow settings. The trace even showed at QRSS3, though not good enough for
communication. Noise was averaging S4, but taking the distribution of peaks
to minima into account, the median value would have been below S3. That's
usually enough for excellent decodes. Really need to find a good (ie,
electrically quiet) way to power the computer so I don't have to recharge it
every three hours. Then I could do what I've really been wanting to do for
a long time and follow the signal over the full 24 hour cycle.
Checked HiFERs briefly before turning to LF, with strong signals (audible as
well as visible) from NC and recognizable traces of EH. Nobody else visible
or audible elsewhere at that time except for an outlaw sending long dashes
and random bits of code around 13,562 for a while. A little later, around
13,555.8, I was surprised to hear WV for the first time in a few years.
Michael recently updated his listing, and sure enough, there he was...nice
clear CW a little over half the time, and deep fades in between. Lots of
CODAR, but considering the direction where the only HiFERs were coming from,
I have to assume it was all in the mid-Atlantic and Northeast region.
