Don't I know it! And, I'm sure a chat room really is very useful.

It just seems to me that there ought to be provisions whereby those making 
monitoring plans for the evening wouldn't have to (a) formally log in 
somewhere and (b) remain watching in real time, simply to learn who's on or 
has been on this evening.  To participate in the discussion, sure, logging 
in is not too much to ask...but just to view skeds?

Reading on this list the next day that something went on at one end of the 
band while I was monitoring the other, and that some folks knew where to 
look while the rest of us hadn't gotten the memo, just about falls in the 
"things that may not concern us" category simply from being too late to be 
useful. ;)

But seriously, it does kind of raise the question of what _this_ list is 
good for if operators are only going to talk to each other on a chat room 
elsewhere.  Can there be some middle ground?
